Anyone have an update? Is this happening and what are the guidelines?

I don't feel bad flex workers need to come 1 extra day a week. Think of all the money you all made since Covid with fake WFH BS meetings at home ... while 100% of the people who actual make the money. YES manufacturing has been forced to be onsite 5 days a week since Covid. MDT took our summer hours and none screamed to silent quit. IMHO
Stock is up 2%! Thanks GeeOff! Right Move
Well our GM doesn’t even live in the city our office is located in. How is it fair that we have to go back to the office to “collaborate” when our GM has the final say? He’s not even around for the conversations we have at the office.
We can always coffee badge or just not follow it. If the difference between a 2 and 3 rating is a one percent point, I will take my wlb back.
@d3 Exactly. And the gas and wear and tear on my car will be converted to a time equivalent that will be added to my commute time and subtracted from my workday.
After a bs 2% raise last year and bs raises and MIP payouts over the last several years as “compensation” for busting my a-s (when Martha continues to get huge double-digit increases), I figure I’m just taking what I’m owed.
@d5 What is the 50 mile radius rumor you are referring to?
Generally, there will be no immediate changes for employees designated as remote. Over time, we will continue to review work styles based on evolving business needs and will consider consistency within local communities near Medtronic sites, which may result in some changes. Employees in other countries should continue to follow local guidelines currently in place.
Anyone have more information on this bit?
@d2 yeah that’s why we all should just quiet quit and they can try to replace us with whatever other people they can dupe into taking a job with non-competitive salary and bad benefits. Why work hard for a company that treats you like worker ants
It’s so funny that they send the “in person collab is SO IMPORTANT” while they have just had a travel ban for 6th months that has prevented us from traveling for actual good reasons to other sites. Meanwhile, they are outsourcing more and more jobs to India so every one is just on teams calls at their desks.
It’s also “funny” that when taking away summer hours they said that it’s bc they can’t implement at all sites, but for this one it’s like “this is US only because yall don’t have labor unions and we can do what we want.” The fact that executives can decide these things without a single seat at the table for the workers is so maddening
Soft layoffs, more like soft di-ks. I remember when this was a great company to work for, now it’s just a place to count the days before management f’s you over. Sad times.
How bout we talk about RTO when the high ups get the stock price at a competitive level against every other company is the industry.
I guess all good things come to an end. Last straw for me. I’m tempted to start applying outside but figure after all the time I’ve put in they can walk me out the door.
This is what we in the corporate industry call “soft layoffs.” Medtronic want people to quit so that they can outsource more of our jobs to India. GM and his buddies are going to get fatter bonuses.
@a3 thanks. I trust this site more then I ever will trust mdt again.
@d2 never a truer statement. I thought it was solely to get people to jump ship but you are right, the goal is to move more jobs to India and contact positions.
The language around 'those who are currently remote' is pretty obvious foreshadowing that the 50 (?) mile radius to key locations rumor is likely accurate as well. It's just going to be a later phase.
A lot of people on this site mocked those who said this was coming. Here it is.
Commute time counts as work time, btw.
This is 100% a strategic initiative to get people to quit and not have to lay them off and pay severance and then outsource the work. This company is despicable.
Just got the email. “At least four days a week . . .” But preferably 7 days a week?
Excellent inside knowledge!!
Thank you for the notification, layoff community - you are still more effective communicators than the so-called "leaders" in this organization.
@ah If most of my team were US-based, coming into the office might make sense. But with more teammates in India and Europe than in MV, it feels off to commute just to sit on Teams calls all day with people overseas.
Driving to a Twin Cities campus to talk to a remote team isn’t exactly productive.
@ah
Totally agree buddy, see you in office tomorrow, maybe let’s do lunch. Please don’t bail on last minute with d-mb excuses; and plan on canceling all excuses.
@c3 noo
@aw - me
Don't we already have a 4 day onsite mandate ?
Who’s the Executive Committee?
I think we could all use RTO.
I’m tried of teams meetings
doubtful of any mandate
Like was just said. Memo drops tomorrow
Tomorrow 5/29 announcement will send to all US employees. At least 4 days a week in office.
