Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Does the media not care about off-shoring any more?

  1. 51 laid off around 200 people a few months ago and immediately replaced most of those roles with people in India. If this had happened 20 years ago it would be national news. It's not mentioned in any articles. I'm afraid my department will be next.

So it’s okay for American corporations to cash in on offshore labor, but workers trying to make a living are the ones demonized? 🙄 And of course, let’s not question our mediocre leaders — the ones who brag about patriotism, football, and how well they can hold their liq-or ,while quietly shipping jobs overseas. Much easier to spread hate at workers than hold greedy, hypocritical leaders accountable.Hypocrisy at its finest !

I questioned why more wasn’t being make out of layoffs and offshoring by the government now. With the environment of attempting to bring back manufacturing to the US, why wouldn’t there be a movement to stop offshoring? Yes, I can understand job being eliminated, but with all the talk of tariffs, why isn’t the government implementing a policy of tariffing or taxing on wages or headcount with offshoring to attempt to stop job losses and or federal employment taxation.

@w8 thank you. I'm sorry to hear about the Albertsons layoffs. Meanwhile the Albertsons CEO can retire after lying to congress. Amazing.

@OP we just had major layoffs at Albertsons yesterday too. They are sending those jobs to Manila in the Philippines. Where is the news on this? Trump is bringing jobs back to the US and these companies are sending them over seas and no one is talking about it. I pray you don't lose your job.
