@gh I have a huge network of all the friends that have left. They are the reason I have had other offers without applying.
You can stay and build a network. I meet friends from former teams and people who left for drinks a few times a year. I actually make really good money where I live. The people that left don't make more money that me. Why do you assume that everyone who left is making more?

I have worked here for 20 years. I have been offered other roles in other companies. The people I know that left and no happier.. it's the same stuff in another company. Might not be for everyone but I like my job.

I am in the RR today and nobody is around. This is the problem with Dell that it's full of slackers whereas I am committed to the company cause and willing to make sacrifices for the greater good. Perhaps if others looked beyond themselves and did similar then Dell would be an even better employer. Michael and JC deserves better than you.

@bm I'm working this weekend and giving up my Memorial Day holiday for the arbitrary internal deadlines we need to meet. That is the level of commitment that Dell expects of you. If you aren't will to forsake your family and friends for Dell then you don't deserve to be working here. This applies to you all.

Why would anyone sacrifice friends family in their life just for a job that does not care about you at all. Tell doesn't deserve the employees it has and soon enough won't even be in business because they are run so poorly by people like you have their respect for their coworkers. You are exactly the person that everyone else hates.

As multiple AWS recruiters once told me.

“We don’t care about Dell, you worked at EMC”.

Sorry but the Dell brand is woeful in the job market. I’d stay and wait for a payout if it’s worth it.

You have to leave and come back, myself and many others have followed this advice given long ago. I'm an IC making $320k before RSUs now. Others who stayed are in the mid-100s and lower grades still.

It's the position you are applying for that dictates success. You rarely land a job that is exactly what you were doing beforehand with respect to things like product knowledge unless you start working for a partner, competitor or something like that. Basically, doing what you did before.

With all the bots that look over your resume for an open position, you never have a chance to interview for the job. How do you bypass the bots? Who knows. Even if you know someone, it seems like companies want you to go through the bots.

With all of the jobs seemingly heading for offshore locations like Panama, Egypt etc, we are starting to have issues with the unemployed.

If you feel you have nothing more to learn from this company then it’s time to go. If you still feel you can learn, contribute, and maybe even mentor someone new then it may be time to go.

If you dread the thought of swiping your badge even one more time… send out the resume now.

less than 5 years you have a good chance.
5+ years is when you start entering the danger zone of diminishing skills
10+ years and it is the kiss of death

there are no 10y or 20y dell superstars no matter what they think or tell you.

If you're unhappy here, then it's too long. If you're worried about being unemployable because your skills haven't been kept up to date since you joined, then it's too long.
