Ugh-here we go agian, Ventura county, pating ourselves on the back for doing whats necessary while our classrooms empty out and our teachers get shown the door...
COVID relief dries up, enrollment dips a bit, and suddenly it’s dozens of layoff notices across Ventura Unified, Oxnard Union & the County Office of Ed. Dozens. And they have the nerve to say numbers could decrease like thats supposed to comfort anyone whose paycheck just vanished.
let me get this straight.
we couldnt find the money for smaller class sizes when the pandemic was in full swing, but now that those grants evaporate, its the teachers who pay the price...
an adult in the class rom would do more good than another textbook.
And dont even get me started on the conspiracy brigade. Gee Gee Allan thinks unions and districts are colluding to steal bond money; because obviously teachers prowling the halls in union tshirts are masterminding a grand heist of our maintenance budgets. Meanwhile Olivia Ramirez cheers on tax cuts for the rich, because sure, lets starve public schools and let private academies gobble up the rest.
Best of all Ben Kohn jumps in blaming communist racist indoctrination as if teaching kids to think for themselves is some sinister plot. Maybe the real radical idea here is that quality education matters more than some political punchline.
So congratulations, Ventura County leaders-you’ve turned budget cuts into a spectator sport. Next time how about trying some actual leadership instead of rehearsing the same old tierd excuse?
