I’ve been thinking about this, and I do believe that if the right people are laid off, Intel could actually be better off in the long run. But here’s the thing, in all the time I’ve been here, I’ve never seen the right people let go. Management keeps getting more bloated while the people doing the real work keep getting cut. If that happens again, we’re sc--wed.

In all your time there you have never seen the right people let go? You should have been let go and that will start to correct the problem you cite.
Intel is repeating the same mistake. The managers who destroyed the organization keep their job and cut off more people to further damage it. In the end, only the bad managers remain untouched.
if intel cannot even grow with additional 20K ppl, how can intel even grow without the 20K ppl?
Intel can do very nicely with 5k managers, about 15-20k employees and 20-30k humanoid robots.
Gross Margin should be something like 80%.
I've seen the future and it doesn't include you.
Yes, in an “exact words” sense. Intel will function fine as a $20bn/year revenue company with 15% gross margins after the cuts.
I don't believe OP can function.
Intel has a long history of putting the people who got us into the mess in charge of cleaning it up. We've seen how that works out. When LBT gave the department heads the responsibility of deciding who to cut, he doomed Intel to repeat the mistakes of the past. These are the same "leaders" who have led their departments into the ground by giving cushy jobs to their friends & allies while laying off the rank & file. They'll do the same here. Intel seems doomed to repeat the cycle. These department heads will cut thousands of people who had no say in Intel's bad decisions, then give themselves bonuses and take credit for guiding their department through a "tough time".
nepotism + entitlement are 80%, 20% does the work
Spend your time thinking about your own bank account. You seem like a buffoon
Yes it can survive losing 20K. This is the only first pass. If Intel survives the end state Intel will be less than 50K blue badge and more use of contract/contingent workers.
Intel can function without 40k people, 20k useless "managers"
Yes it can perform with 60K people let's layoff the underachieving and that includes the management
The smart people have taken the package and left.
What you have left are people that can't get a job elsewhere.
Makes no difference.
