Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Some of the blame goes to Trump's tariffs

Walmart Marketplace is taking a huge hit because most of the sellers source products from China or other non-US countries.
An email was sent out this afternoon from Suresh Kumar giving some info about reorg and strategy shifts etc. It sounds as though there will not be additional layoffs tomorrow. Hopefully those who were displaced can get positions in new areas.

Chinese retailers who were banned from Amazon Marketplace are now selling on Walmart Marketplace. These products are counterfeit or fraudulent. Please avoid buy from these people.

Trump campaigned on tariffs so you don't think they (and other companies) were already planning for possible cost reductions during the election cycle?

Months of planning go into these large layoffs. Tariffs have nothing to do with it.

Layoffs are the results of failed leadership strategies. Whether they over hired or changed their plans for the future.

Maybe but I bet this was set in motion long before Trump ascended to his throne.
