Not sure how much of this is going on in any other branches but in certain locations, it's alot and ongoing... It's concerning because there are some depts where the employees are scrounging for work because the Phillipines are doing alot of it.. Is this just leading up to prep for another round of layoffs?

Re: rehiring/temps
That's 100% accurate. Lots of people who got laid off are saying that they're being treated like they were fired for disciplinary reasons and not laid off - ignored by former managers, being told verbally or with legal notice in one case that they are "not allowed on-site or anywhere near the Melville campus" and being rejected almost immediately or not contacted at all if they apply for their old roles or similar roles.
I heard that one of the other Canon divisions is actively hiring back their people (I think it was Financial Services or Virginia?) but that CUSA is doing everything they can to cut ties with people who were laid off.
Same with the production side of the house. Layoff many sales reps, service and marketing and then hire the slots back without even asking those that were let go if they want to come back. Shady
Yes, they did this intentionally.
They offered early retirement / laid off lots of people last year, then they proceeded to hire a slew of temps to fill their shoes. I think it’s hilarious how they refer to them as “consultants:”. When I hear consultant, I think of managerial/business consultant professionals who provide analysis and recommendations , not clerical staff in hourly positions.
They got rid of people, acted surprised when productivity and performance went down the tubes, then attempted to do something about it, but decided to hire temps instead of rehiring those they let go and admitting they f’d up.
Just another example of shady unethical business practices.
