Sadly, I think it is the opposite. This is just the new normal.
Ford, and other similar companies, are just using capitalism for all it's worth. They want to spend less and earn more. And as long as the ultra wealthy want to offshore labor, the legislature won't stop them.
There are tariffs coming. That will help. But I think it will be offset with more offshore of 'office' workers. And Elon has already shown that he intends to fully automate his robotaxi manufacturing to eliminate human workers from the assembly process.
This is the new normal. People will always buy vehicles. It'll be us middle class that get the boot until there is no middle class left.

I would argue that Ford needs to increase resources in some areas due to growth. Software, services, and Model e for example. I do not believe a 25% task in any way. Complete falsehood.

Agree, how is Fartley and Billy still in charge? 15 billion down the cr-pper on BEV programs. They tried to offset losses by cutting a huge number of engineers in the US,UK, and Germany and sending other jobs to LCC. Ford is a dying company.
Go talk to the people at the top who made the billon dollar bets on EVs that isn't even close to panning out. So the soldiers that did what they ask are the ones to pay the price. Even if they get cut, their golden parachutes will assure them a soft landing.
