Sterling Background Check

Accepted a new external job and have to go through a background check by Sterling. They are asking me for the badge ID of my reference because they said they couldn't verify the person (haven't reached out either). Person works at Dell. Anyone have knowledge what Dell shares with providers or experience with this?

Sterling only requires employment verification dates and position
HR can assist. It’s also automated

Have them go into My HR and get an employment verification letter. It's an automated system

To clarify Sterling hasn't reached out to my reference because of this. Of course I know the person and got his badge ID/ shared it with the background check company. I just wonder how they are able to access our badge IDs and if so what else they can see.

Wait, the person who referred you doesn't know you? Just call them and ask for their badge number.

Send them URL to their LinkedIN account.
If they dont have one you shouldnt have used them for reference

Dell doesn't give any formal references - recommend you use a colleaue/peer who agrees to a phone call instead - they could set up a Teams call so that the new company can see their Dell email address
