Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Layoffs in ICS and Innovation

Just heard mumblings and a saw a few weekend posts indicating that ICS and Innovation teams in the tech space are going to be disbanded or reduced significantly end of month.

So what happened to CM and JS saying "There are no plans for mass layoffs. Full stop."

Some of those people were not dead branches. They were the victims of NS and his mindless spending. Everyone is so focused on IT when there is serious disfunction elsewhere.

Per federal labor law NM was 15 people short of it being a mass layoff:

Mass Layoff is defined as a reduction in force that is not the result of a plant closing and that results in an employment loss at a “single site of employment” during any 30-day period for (1) at least 33% of the employees (excluding part-time employees), and (2) 50 or more workers (excluding part-time employees).

The-weekend is an embarrassment. JS shows everyone his incompetence. He lacks spine and looks up to Christian for everything. What a cluster waste of everyone’s time.

I’m all for holding leadership accountable, but you guys are pretty off base here.

One, ICS isn’t even in Christians org. Two, the leader of Reliability and WIRX (PF) left the company, so instead of maintaining an org that was really just carved out so a friend of NS could come in, they re-consolidated things. Third, 35 is hardly a mass layoff (you only really need to look at news headlines to understand what that looks like).

Also, not really sure you guys understand the pile of budgetary excr-ment that NS and crew left tech with. Trust me when I say cost cutting is going to get way worse, but I wouldn’t blame the leaders who were called in to clean the mess up that previous people made.

Good to see with earnings to revenue at risk DR’s still fly in the clowns each week for the show.

The show must go on!!!! Repeat there are rules for you and there are rules for ELG members. NM’s class system hard at work.

Why can’t we track NM’s two Falcon jets anymore? I thought NM was transparent?

It's how you interpret what they say. CM is a politician who I wouldn't trust and who you should never trust. The guy lacks any empathy, vulnerability and honesty. To repeat him - Full stop - no mass layoffs. But, off the record, hey, we will certainly continue to purge a couple here, a couple there as we continue to transform.

Around 35 were impacted in the last week that I know of but likely more. No worries folks, these aren't mass layoffs. Just a trimming of a few dead branches on the ever evolving NM strategy tree. I mean, what's a mass layoff folks?

Looking forward to another session of The Weeknd where we will watch our senior leaders pretend to be honest and spin the questions how they see fit.
