Local country laws can delay layoffs by at least a month. Maybe the US is done but other countries can still have more cuts.
AI is not replacing anyone in my department anytime soon. I have been working feverishly to utilize AI tools for almost two years now, and they are just not up to the task yet. A small improvement in productivity is all we’re seeing so far in med devices…
Not only AI is not going to take over, people who rely on AI are losing their ability to use critical thinking.
Hilarious that people think AI will take over. AI can only be effective if our data is in good shape, which it is not. It is inconsistent, incomplete, error prone, and very much out of date. We’ve invested millions of dollars into planning and automation systems which don’t work as intended because the data assumptions are faulty. We need to spend the money to fix the data.
WFH is not the problem.
It's over.
Typical Medtronic, it's small enough to not be noticed by the press and not large enough to make a difference in business performance.
So stock will continue to languish and big problems will NOT be solved.
All you people that work from home --- your job will be eliminated by AI with 5 years.
When you say rearranging of groups, do we know which groups will be impacted?
The layoffs are done. The upcoming weeks will be rearranging of groups and new "strategy".
Last week was also mid May and the layoffs were plenty. We’ll see what this week brings.
