Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Headline but no story

A grand entrance means nothing if the room still feels empty. Respect isn’t shown by how you arrive, but how you behave once you’re there. An automotive company is not just studied for their car, but its driver. You’re studied for intent. Whatever you came to prove, you only proved you’re watching more than being watched. You have to pull up with meaning, and meaning isn’t mechanical. Presence doesn’t remain parked. Pulling focus (distraction) =/= holding weight. Pull up for a reason that holds meaning.

Pointed at every individual driver that this can apply towards that prioritizes optics over substance. Poverty of ambition.

Being preoccupied with how you’re perceived—trying to look the part rather than be the part… is the root of the problem. Back in 2020, the employees were brainwashed into having a personal brand. How to be even more fake. Common sense is thrown out the window when you follow trends and buzz phrases without understanding what you’re applying. RIP real character growth and accountability… appearing like you’re improving and not having to actually do the work is NOT structural thinking as it is bound to repeat. Care about what you can make others see just like proving something in kangaroo court.

The genuinely bright philosopher Kodak Black at the age of 14 years old once inscribed, “Easy to start off your dreams but it’s harder to finish” (Kodak Black - Ambition).. the ones rewarding antics end up as the greater fool holding the bag… unless you’re in the entertainment business.

Never underestimate humanity and bet against it.

Michael Jordan’s Ferrari 512 TR is a perfect illustration of the principle described in the thread. Although the vehicle is expensive— its true significance and lasting value are deeply tied to the identity and actions of its driver. Jordan didn’t “pull focus” with that car—he held weight. The car didn’t make the man; the man gave the car meaning.

Jordan owned the .rar-e from its delivery on February 29, 1992, until he sold it in October 1995 to businessman Chris Gardner. Gardner, whose life story inspired the film The Pursuit of Happyness, personalized the car with the license plate “NOT MJ.” After being auctioned in 2010, the car’s whereabouts became a mystery, effectively disappearing from public view for over 15 years…. until last month :).
