Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

You know what's funny?

BNSF management is yet to figure out nobody wants to work for them anymore. Word gets around, and at this point, everyone knows what a mess it is. They keep laying people off but when it's time to fill some much needed positions nobody worth their salt ever applies anymore. And it's only going to get worse.

Many companies don't get the concept of having a good work reputation. One or two disgruntled employees won't change the minds of job seekers, but when word gets out that it's a toxic work environment with little to no chance of advancement and zero semblance of job stability, the applications will dry up.
Times may be tough for a time for those who were let go, but ultimately they did us all a favor by kicking us off of the sinking ship early.
The market is flooded with available applicants right now, and plenty of positions exist for those that know where to look.
It's the ones that get let go later that will have a larger problem since any surplus of openings will have already been filled.
My advice to anyone still on board there is to update your resume and start looking now - it's not a matter of IF they will let you go, but WHEN. Better to go out on your own terms and your own schedule than to hold out false hope.

Haha yeah it’s sad. Back in the day they’d have to rent the largest conference room they could get at a hotel for a hiring session. There would be 150+ candidates. Now they can’t get anyone qualified. And the good people they already have they want to sh-t can them.
