Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Are we ready for Monday 5-19?

Monday is a sure thing…layoffs. It is emotional..waiting to find out if you are being let go or not. You also think about yours friends and co-workers and feel dread for them as well. I am sure Monday will be a LONG day.

think the original point is that in the US racism is being leveraged by billionaires to take away people's rights. i see your point about indians though too. company replaces you and your friend with labor from other countries so they can get a bonus it would be hard not to be mad.

Agreed, the weird thing I am seeing is growing hate for Indians in tech overall. I don’t understand why

How do you folks downrank the comment about s-x and race having nothing to do with how you perform your job? How do you disagree with that? I'd love to know how the color of someone's skin effects their ability to do a job. Or whether they're having s3x with a man or woman of the same or opposite s3x... I'll never understand that idiocy. Not that it matters but I am both g-y and black.

Has nothing to do with hate..... !d!ot!!

The lack of self awareness just blows me away.

The red hat didn't mention hating anyone. We simply have common sense and know that where or in whom you stick your private parts has ZERO business in the workplace. The same with the color of your skin: It simply has nothing to do with the job you do. Nothing to do with hate. But hey way to go trying to sound smart !d!ot.

Fascinating that almost immediately a 'red hat' shows up and tells everyone about all of the "other" groups of people that he hates. It's almost like the previous poster hit the nail on the head.

It's not that we "red hats" are empathetic. We simply have "lgbtq+ fatigue", we have "Loser fatigue", some also have "black fatigue". We are tired of all of your bull$hit. Want to support Ukraine? Write them a check yourself, or better yet instead of a blue and yellow flag go there and fight for what you supposedly "believe in" instead of virtue signaling.

I read people who are hopeful for others to get laid off and something comes to mind. During the Nuremberg Trials a psychiatrist said the closest clinical definition he could come to for evil was a lack of empathy. That's why a certain group of people in this country are so focused on attack "woke"...basically empathy for others. The difference between the "red hats" and the majority of the country is empathy; there's not much of a platform or an ideology beyond hating brown people, poor people, lgbtq people, trans people....the "other". Hating "the other" is a fundamental building block of fascism and it's (not coincidentally) the fundamental building block of the red hats. It is clear to see that we are two Americas; the majority on one side and the red hats and a handful of billionaires on the other.

It's so funny that there are people out there who look up a website about layoffs so that they can defend the company doing the layoffs. That's not sad at all. Hopefully they'll find something more meaningful to do than hope that people get fired. I doubt it though.

It's official. I'm sorry for all of those who will receive that message today. I imagine it'll be a Zoom Call notification. How classy. 🤬

We get it — loyalty isn’t your thing, and kindness clearly wasn’t on your resume either. Just remember, when you cheer for people to get fired, it says more about your character than theirs. Hope your next job interview goes better than this comment.

Guy who said the company owes you nothing is 100% correct.

All you people downranking his comment are just ignorant fools if you think the company owes you any more than what the salary they promised you. One thing they never promised you: a forever job.

I hope all of you who downranked such a based TRUTHFUL comment get $hitcanned tomorrow. Tick tock mfrs. Probably low performers anyways. Good Riddance, do better.

"It's business" can be used to justify pretty much any horrid act imaginable. Maybe you should be asking yourself why "it's business" to upend hundreds, if not thousands, of people's lives? Why should people be less upset about decisions that could potentially ruin their lives because those decisions were made solely out of greed? You sound like a psychopath. Makes complete sense though, since psychopaths are overrepresented in management. You're a loyal little trooper. I just hope that the digits on your bank statement make up for your completely lack of a soul.

Jobs are not families. Your boss(es) are not your friends. This is business. It is 100% about making money for the owners/stock holders.

Stop acting like this is anything other than a business decision and stop thinking that a company owes you anything more than your next paycheck.

Business is not personal. It’s all about making money.

If layoffs do happen the thing that will be toughest to deal with will be knowing that people knew those that were going to be impacted and didn't have the basic decency to give them any advanced notice. How do you have meetings with people and pal around with them in the office knowing their life is about to be completely upended and can't be bothered to anonymously send them a note.......let them know they shouldn't be making any large purchases or that they should take their kid in to the doctor to have that medical issue looked at before they no longer have health insurance. We have lost basic empathy for others and we will all be worse off for it. It would be nice to find out the May 19th rumor is unfounded but a lot of people seem to be convinced, though they refuse to offer any substantive information.
