Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

RTMO

We don’t have RTO. We have Return To Many Offices.

Few have their entire team in the same city. Same floor or even building for everyone is near fantasy.

If the reason to come in is team collab, then move us together. And since we could never get everyone from all the teams we might possibly have a meaningful hallway chat with, why not give up on the lie and improve virtual work?

It's all part of the playbook. We hold corporate real estate and value in corporate real estate. That market is 20% unoccupied and weak. Before RTO it was looking dire. RTO is useful in bolstering that market. It also encourages people to quit. Win. Win.

@3t3 the value of Schwab real-estate is worth more if it is occupied more than 33.33%. Nothing to do with other company buildings.

The real reason for RTO is so that they promote using Real Estate. I would bet that Schwab has a lot of Real Estate stocks in their ETF's and what not. If everyone went to WFH those investments would plummet and make the company look bad. This isn't just with Schwab, I would guess it's with all the other investment fims that offer ETF's and/or other types of funds.

My Manager, Director, MD are all Remote and work maybe 4 hours a day. I drive to work and back 3 days a week with no one to interact with in the physical office all my team-mates are remote and are in 3 different time zones and now my micro-manager is sharing my badge swipes in every 1:1. They all get paid more than me and they should be in office solving hard technical problems. But they are all enjoying 4 hour workday.

Bru it’s been a 5 years, put some pants on and return to your office.

Unrelated but the reggaeton song RITMO is a banger.

They will one day admit this is due to them paying for empty buildings and possible tax breaks to have slaves...er...workers in the offices.

There’s no way they could put everyone together. And, yes, that’s what makes RTO so breathtaking unsmart.

Don't give them ideas. I'm not relocating to Texas, Chicago, San Fransisco, or Orlando.
