Agreed. Take a look at any major’s page. It’s a sh.t show industry and a takeover would result in more layoffs than already promised.

I agree with the opinion that should bp be acquired, the buyer will section bp up and sell. However, with the structure of bp as it is, how do you further section it off? As an Amoco heritage employee (now retired from all of the drama), when British Petroleum bought us, they kept us together for only a little while. After the rebranding, bp proceeded to sell off all of the specialty chemical business units, and then proceeded to combine the remaining business units into a larger one. The reorganized business units were mostly headed by British Petroleum leaders. Of course, in doing so, JB also fired a great number of us. It also seemed a while ago, I read that because of the very large stake the UK is invested in bp, the chances of a takeover by another entity is unlikely to get approval from the UK government.

bp has some Signiant influential investors and board members so forget about a merger, it will never happen

it would be such a relief to see bP bought. it feels like the company cant stumble along much longer and it is worth a fraction of what it once was. i hope that bP gets put out of its misery regardless of my fate. they have been unable to turn the ship around in many, many years

They will all gut the company, and try to sell /JV non core parts. ELT and middle mtg will be replaced with their own. Take care what you wish for. If you prefere a legacy.. A new around CEO & Chairman with successful experience turning around would be best.. ATM you have a Chairman experienced breaking up / selling

Trust me you do NOT want to be bought by ADNOC or any other Mideast company.

Out of all the suitors I'd prefer ADNOC, good financial backing, not big on BTC's, and traditional Oil, Gas, Petrochem setup. Personally, I don't think anyone picks the company up. These rumors have existed since Horizon and will probably go on forever.
