Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

It's been a couple of weeks

How's work going for those who lost teammates in the last round? Are you already having to do their work? Is there any talk of getting you help or reducing the workload? Or is it just assumed that you'll be doing it from now on and that's it, no discussion, no complaints?

We are doing the other people's work. It su-ks. We went from a department that was considered severely understaffed, to staffed, back now to understaffed. You cannot win.

From my business partners' perspective, it is far worse. Some are very frustrated because they are picking up work they did not understand. In two cases that I know of, the id--t of a senior leader cut two teams beneath him without knowing what the people did (possibly on the advice of a VERY expensive consultant), but where said leader had definite issues with the leaders reporting to him. The people being asked to the take on the work of the two leaders and their teams are now scrambling to understand the work and are catching falling debris from the mess caused by the sudden and unexpected disruption. Yes our customers are paying the price as are the sales teams that support them. All to appease one terrible ex MSFT ogre of a VP. This is very hard to watch, and I feel helpless.

Everyone knows the issues, but no one can stand up to the ex MSFT posse of egomaniacs. The two I know who tried to stop the madness were top employees and were laid off (both have landed better jobs, but they both really cared about Netapp so our loss). Thank god I am leaving soon too.

I got tired of doing other peoples work and left. Total catfish gig. Immediate team was great to work with but the entry level extended team in India was a total sh-t show. Spent 3 years trying to train them only for management to encourage that behavior. Literally sleeping on Zoom calls.

I don't think there is one answer, it is team-specific. Some sales reps that were let go are getting backfilled. Other teams are spreading the workload. So it depends.

I would say any of your possibilities are applicable to most teams in some form.

Almost everyone left is applying for new work elsewhere. Workload is distributed, heads down low. We wonder which come back with legal force.

Well which is it? The people who were let go were overpaid, or is it the people who are left who are overpaid? We don't pay well enough for it to be both.

Just assumed of course. Long ago it was established if not willing to take on more then the door is over there. Not good.

Just think ....lazy and overpaid NetApp employees might have to earn their pay.
