Thread regarding Microsoft Corp. layoffs

This is the worst timing for a layoff

Have any of you been paying attention to the job market? I have. I’ve been applying and going on interviews for the past six months, and I’m still here because I’ve never seen it this bad. Most of the postings are fake. For the ones that aren’t, it’s nearly impossible to even get an interview. And if you finally do make it past round one, then two, then three, and however many more, you find out the pay is insultingly low. They know people are running out of options, and they’re lowballing everyone they can. Getting laid off in a situation like this...I’m just praying it’s not me.

@d6, not true. Some people actually benefit from getting paid off... If they were planning to retire anyway, they can pick up severance. 2021 was a good time to get laid off relative to now

100%. The job market for tech / white collar jobs has been absolutely dismal for at least the past two years. Microsoft just shafted 6000 people so their executives could further enrich themselves.
