some incredible people & strong performers will be impacted simply due to broader restructuring & org-level changes. this isn’t just about individual output.
that said, let’s be real — across the industry (including at microsoft) the bar has been raised. there’s growing pressure to uplevel productivity, especially with ai in the mix. folks who haven’t adapted or embraced that shift may be more at risk.
it’s a brutal environment, & unfortunately, merit alone isn’t always what decides who stays or goes.
