Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

What Versant really means

If you've listened to CNBC's lackluster explanation of the Verdant name and remain confused, I have some news for you. One of the proponents of Versant in the naming contest was advocating for "versant" not because of the mountain or hill slope analogy, but because they felt SpinCo was a pile of cr-p. So, that one person anyway, went for Versant as "shitpile". Yes, the mountain logo thing is s stylized shitpile. Corporate life can be brutal - that isn't a very exciting way to launch a brand.

OP sounds right. Quoting https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/06/comcast-spinco-corporate-name-versant.html: "The company chose the name Versant, not intended to be consumer-facing, to emphasize its role as a house of brands.". I can see the "shitpile" reference through the polish in that article.
