There are still many many managers with only a few reports so none of the demotions to IC has happened yet

Anyone know when this is to be completed?

Certain organizations in the field have not be touched yet, but it is coming. Others have been redone top to bottom like mine. It seems like certain VPs are resisting the 20:1 mandate, others are fully onboard. Will be interesting to see what happens to the resisting VPs. All you have to do is look at the org chart in email to see what is happening. I know of plenty of teams that still have ~10:1 ratios. My entire org is a "clean" 20:1 from VP all the way down, and we lost all of middle management.

my manager announced demoted to IC but he told us it has been suspended due to pick increase demand on and low productivity in the team (low morale you know) :-)

Making managers ICs is a joke and an insult to individuals that ACTUALLY contribute. These mangers are basically useless and should be WFRed. Maybe some will at least have the dignity to leave rather than try to fool people into thinking that they are capable of contributing as an individual.

They'd have to have the mental capacity understand that they are part of the problem and the integrity to hole themselves accountable. Upper management is lacking in both of those areas so WFR will not directly impact them.

Individual Contributor is more valuable to a company.

Managers stay because they have aspirations of ascending and running the show. Why anyone wants to endure this is beyond me.

Because the reputation of Dell's manager roles outside there is very poor. Most of the managers that were laid off in my country are either still working for a new manager role (after almost 1 year from the moment they've been laid off) or had to accept finding a new job as an IC.

They got rid of 2 of our 4 managers a few weeks ago so the two remaining could have 28 direct reports each. After last weeks layoffs one manager now has 14 and the other 18. Not sure how they'll get them up to 20 unless the plan is to yeet another manager.....
