Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Where did all the money go?

10 Billy. What exactly was spent?

I’m talking granularly line by line. It doesn’t add up to me with less than a thousand employees. I’m aware human capital is not all, but I cannot wrap my head around it.

Anyone want to help?

The $1 million paid to Trump’s inauguration could have paid many salaries and been a better investment.

Most prob went towards securing the talent. Securing the talent expenses might not even be going to talent. But it must have still been sent securing them. Don’t ask deeper how

I’m not in model e, but I’d say probably the human capital was the most expensive for the best talent. Doug field himself was compensated 15 million so once can assume everyone within that organization was paid handsomely well to execute with good morale. I’m also assuming since everyone was surrounded by top talent they learned from each other and worked well since these archetypes don’t look at each other as competition especially since they were all paid equitably. You’d have to assume logically for success they paid prime chop to bring the best of the best. Not to mention available travel to summits or days off on workshops and perhaps even asynchronous learning (masters degree, certifications etc). They also probably had to pay for the right machines so everyone had a workstation to contribute. You can’t forget days off for mental health, such as religious holidays where you spend time with your family and connect, or days that are important like weddings, those may require travel sometimes. You can’t forget about the fact that everyone has to be in person as it must be like a community you can’t just have everyone outside of Michigan or California. You also have to make sure you don’t have a revolving door of people where everyone is expendable it really hurts the saying “teamwork makes the dream work and I don’t want to switch teams”… so you got to think about all salaried ford employees that are long term investments meaning they need to get rewarded for contributions and recognized equitably and that is also another cost as you have to retain the talent. You can’t forget you must give them a signing bonus and RSU that requires them to stay for three years because that’s not how you show trust which is a three way street, people can’t do the best work in a cage unless it’s in a faraday cage away from Hawthorne effect that may undermine greatness by interfering in plans of greatness. These guys are smart, if they study Fords culture they’ll know they are the type to track if an RSU vests in may, they’ll say you’ll be promoted in effect on April 1st and then hang you out to dry April 5h so you’d assume that ford had to make sure that there wasn’t a claw in the employees such as waiting years for vesting for it to not even vest after all the time in the system. Ford probably spent so much on gifted HR to understand the needs in model e because you can’t just throw some random person in that feels resentment or envy from talent so they probably had to pay top talent in that department, people who know and understand the work that sacrificed their time on the field to make sure the players are understood and protected. You’d also assume that model e with the low count of employees had everyone who knew each other like a family, in a good way where mutual respect is king. People that are different accept others who are different… I feel like accommodating to the needs of all talent costed the most out of the budget because everyone has different needs to feel fulfilled or not distracted from the field. Plus imagine those players having access to people that remove blockers, distractions etc from the process. This is where I think majority of the money went.
