Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Both blue collar and white collar jobs will be affected by AI.

Its slowly being realized that AI doesn’t affect just tech jobs but also other NON tech jobs.

Book keepers, insurance number crunchers, travel coordinators, secretaries, reporting jobs etc… maaaany are being replaced by AI in other companies on a rather large scale.

The consensus is that if AI can crunch complex series of numbers, surely it can replace the bulk of the book keepers. Oh, look, it can, so lets let go of 80% of those guys. Hey, check this out, it can also coordinate and book flights, schedule meetings and make hotel reservations proactively. So lets run off all the travel coordinators and 80% of the secretaries. On and on and on.

Of course the coders, scripters, dev ops etc… are also heavily affected. No longer will those guys be able to find jobs as frequent or to the pay scale that was available in the past. Security will next to be heavily consumed by AI. Such things as pen-testers will slowly die on the vine. Gone are the days of “its coming”, nope, its already here. You are living it right now.

It won’t just be clerical workers. Lawyers, doctors, traders, bankers, pilots….all of those will be replaced. Not only can robots synthesize massive amounts of data and easily draw conclusions and make recommendations (doctors, bankers, brokers, traders, and lawyers) and make movements based on inputs (pilots), robots don’t need to sleep, eat, or use the bathroom, and don’t need to get paid. Companies may only be talking about cutting the low paid workers but they are going to ultimately go for the big savings. It’s going to be HUGE and tons of jobs will no longer require humans. I feel sorry for the up and coming generations. It’s going to be progressively harder to make money, certainly to build wealth.

Yes, name calling will assuredly keep me from making any other such posts because that always works. That’s the last we’ll hear from me on the subject. Lesson learned as I have been put in my place.

Thank Captain obvious. Everyone knows the impact will be hard. How hard is yet to being seen.
