I recently saw a post on LinkedIn regarding someone who was promoted after his entire team was eliminated. I'm still laughing... It's as if these people are living in a fantasy world. There's no sense continuing to work for what remains. Let me ask you who choose to continue working for this abomination. Why? What are your values that you'd continue to support this unethical organization and it's greedy ELT and HR management. Do you need the money that bad, or do you consider yourself unemployable?

"If you work at the same company for 10+ years, it takes courage to start over somewhere else."
Exactly, and you were one of the many 'loyal employees' who said and did nothing as Citrix sunk slowly into the abyss that is now a hollow shell within CSG. Pitiful...
Promotions are frozen until next year. You have been trolled.
There aren't jobs for everyone available at a moment's notice. The unemployment rate is low. If you're a tech guru with the proper skills, good for you, but if you're not, then there is plenty of competition for jobs. Saying ignorant and insensitive things like 'why do you stay here' says more about the sender than it does the receiver. Ignorant people simply can't see outside their own bubble.
I was laid off from Citrix, but I understand why people would continue working there. We're currently in a recession, at war, and in an election year. Not to mention all the tech layoffs and hiring freezes due to the aforementioned macroeconomic issues. The truth is bills still must be paid regardless of how one feels about the employer. And again as a person who is currently looking for a job, I can confirm that having one is much safer than not having one at the moment. So I hold zero negativity towards those who are staying.
Speaking for myself, I'm not sticking around hoping for a promotion. I'm sticking around (until I'm let go or find something else) to collect the paycheck I need to support my family. I admire anyone with the courage and conviction to resign on principle, but I cannot do that in my situation. So kudos to you if you can, but please don't judge the rest of us because we haven't left yet.
I have started networking today, and discretely let people know I am open to work. I am looking fwd already. Either redundant, fired or resigning, I am leaving this place for pastures new.
If you work at the same company for 10+ years, it takes courage to start over somewhere else. It's not a fantasy world, it's a world full of 'fear of the unknown'. Don't judge me.
Also, most of the folks recently promoted to Director and Senior Director are timid employees -- meaning, they follow directions, don't make waves, and leaders like them.
