My career was over the day I came to exxon. I have no career acording to my ranking and non raise. Careers are only for the chosen few at exxon. Good luck chasing the dream.
By design. Darren had a chance to clean this up but he didn’t. The chase is always on and is all about popularity via being a yes man or buddy. Yes on the pre ranking. Can’t wait till I don’t have to do deal with this any more.
Quit being dramatic. You can absolutely go up in the actual assessment. It is true that you're essentially anchored at where you are pre assessed by your supervisor. But you can go up and down.
There was an undocumented pre-meeting where your ranking was already predetermined. Nothing in writing. After the "official" meeting, all notes are shredded. You can go down at the "official" meeting, but you will not go up.
Hate to break it to you, the 3 minutes was just a dog and pony show.........your ranking is pre-determined going in. The 3 minutes was to see if there's any additional objection that your sup was not aware of.
The discussion is usually something like “what were the two behavior based weaknesses?”
It is more than that. Discussions happen where to rank you vs peers.
2 mins max. We were all told to write a 2 min speech for our supervisor representing us, and she had 1-1 with each of us to rehearse her 2 min speech, and make her final edits. Three performance assessment focused 1-1s per person. On the one hand, I admire her work ethic, trying to do her best. On the other hand, we’re all HC10 so some of us will definitely get PIP by virtue of HC10. A fool’s errand.
3 min? Try 2 min and (maybe 15 sec?).
