I read MD’s book. Like many people he credits his mother with his sense of compassion.
The company’s practice of matching donations is an example of that.
But I wonder what his mother would think now of the capricious layoffs, the RTO without apology after telling employees that remote work is the future. Or the constant threat of layoffs causing undo anxiety in people who might like their jobs, or did.
I’ve been laid off twice in my career. Both times the HR rep said something to the effect of “It’s not personal, it’s business.”
What is more cold-hearted yet personal than to tell someone with kids looking at college and a mortgage that you’re cutting off their income… and in many cases - self esteem.
