Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Layoffs and restructuring will be a long, difficult process

The real question is: how do we get through this without losing our minds? This isn’t just starting, it’s coming after months of ongoing cuts and uncertainty, which have already left many of us feeling drained and anxious. Most of us are just average workers, and we’re deeply concerned about our livelihoods. And before anyone suggests looking for another job - I’ve tried. So have many others. The job market is tight, and competition is fierce. At this point, I honestly don’t know how to shield my health and well-being from the toll this is taking.

Dismantle the def met leadership and let them go. Bump up the real hard workers there into a leadership role

@ak+ Likely high performers will be retained even in the product groups to be shut down.

If someone is clearly 'recognized' for adding a lot of value, managers will usually find a path for them to stay.

Of course, stuff still happens sometimes.

@aa... I think that you are wrong. When they start ending products or projects entire teams will be released. This will include the the high, average, and poor performers who are all working on whatever product or project gets cut. At the same time they will be performance managing poor performers across the company out the door. This will be an ongoing process going forward. Right now not many people are in truly safe positions.

Join or form a support group. If you tell NAMI working for Intel amounts to an anxiety disorder these days they’ll let you join, but you’ll have to deal with discussions of other mental illnesses too. Ask your dr for a med. Go do something fun.

Just ….. don’t expect support from Intel or the bad behavior to stop ….. ‘cause obviously it won’t. Prepare for the long haul.

Best wishes!

Average workers should not be concerned about getting laid off.

With the rapid adoption of AI and humanoid robotics, most average workers will lose their job so frequently it will become like having a birthday or something, so possibly a cause for celebration, involving the worlds saddest cupcake with a candle in it.

Take Coursea classes, AI classes, this way you can put key skills on your resume to put ypurs ahead of the stack when and if you have to compete with others looking for jobs. I mean if you took the mandatory AI Intel training you could even put that on your resume, it's a certificate of completion. Stay positive although tough, any classes you have taken will give you a boost, of confidence and show knowledge the job market is looking for.
