Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

Truly messed up

I got laid off from Fossil not too long ago, along with a bunch of hardworking colleagues who actually cared about making the company better. We busted our butts to improve customer experiences, drive business, and make an impact with limited resources. Meanwhile, Fossil continues to throw tons of cash at hiring newbies to fix what clearly can’t be fixed! Just ask A&M!

It’s infuriating to see that the people who are closest to the customers and actually doing the work are treated like they don’t matter, while the bigwigs walk away with cushy severance packages, even after making choices that clearly hurt the business.

This isn’t just about me; it’s about a messed-up system that rewards failure at the top and punishes those who are genuinely trying to make a difference. To everyone else who’s been laid off and is still looking for a job: Your work meant something, even if it was overlooked and undervalued.

It’s just friends giving friends as much money as possible before a layoff hits. You have to be popular or friends with the right person to get an impactful raise there.

We have a long history of clueless top management hires that get paid off at severance time. You’re right. It’s a messed up system. The funniest part though - these brains have ki-led the company and the brand is so dead it’s not even salvageable.

I get how you feel. Not only was my position eliminated, but I was also retained to train my cheaper replacements from GBS. They think that a team that doesn't quite understand a lot of the stuff we did is going to be a good replacement - but I figure that's why they're paying cheaper bucks.
