Dear Management, What Are You Going To Do About the Deadwood?

So, one of the biggest reasons that I absolutely despise office time is that there are so many people who socialize, sc--w around all day, and contribute nothing to the company. All day long, I can hear people in another room, through poorly constructed paper thin walls, horsing around like it’s a high school cafeteria. There’s yelling, singing and dancing, inappropriate belching and fa----g sounds being made to get their buddies to laugh.

This is exactly why nobody takes management seriously in this company. I have many questions. Why is this allowed to go on? Who is in charge? Why do these people have that much free time on their hands while others are constantly strained? How effective are your employee evaluation procedures and productivity measures? How effective is your restructuring strategy? Apparently, you missed some roles that could have been easily been terminated or outsourced. Do you just not care any more? Are you just flat out incompetent?

The reason why people trash management on here is that they are the ones ultimately responsible for ensuring that unacceptable behavior, poor performance, and all the other shenanigans are weeded out. Management needs to be more attuned with what is going on instead of hiding in meetings all day. Start observing, start assessing candidly, start taking swift actions. It’s your job. You want to be in charge? Then, get real and get cracking. Stop shirking accountability. The company will never reach its full potential unless the deadwood is removed.

WILL THE REAL LEADERS PLEASE STAND UP.

This thread seems specific to people who have hybrid roles. But what about the people that have remote roles, like the service organization or the professional service organization. How many of these people who are supposed to show up at a customer and fix a problem or deal with customer satisfaction, don't go on site but will only call the customer to talk them through a problem. These organizations are managed by local managers that have 20+ years of service and don't even monitor where or what their people are doing. Why does one organization have a tracking app for miles and the other no tracking at all. Summer is almost here and i'm sure the professional services people will be off in their boats or watching grandchildren. Customers complain that it takes weeks to fix a press problem yet both the service and professional service people cry they have to go on site as they finger point to the other in front of customers that its not their problem. Who's driving this boat? What are you paying directors for when management is missing in action.

One of the managers on my floor seems to work from home quite frequently, and itsunfair to the rest of us. He originally had a sales position that transitioned to management, but now he seems to be treated as a special case???? Why? Many find this unfair, so we keep track it's a fun game. Maybe we will share one day here.

People also have time to take long breaks with no consequences. Nobody is monitoring those who take advantage.

Bravo. I personally see it when in the office and it's maddening. Grown adults who act like 2yr olds especially if the boss is off or in meetings. I literally know someone who comes in late every single day. After arrival time is social hour or 3 about home, kids, etc. Then it's break time and lunch. Or when all is quiet, they are texting at their desk but never ever get busted. When did this become acceptable behaviour? Nothing is done because management doesn't care anymore. Or maybe never did. Like someone said they have been there 20+ years and always protected.

As a female employee in sales, I must say that management seems like a “boys” club. I feel as if the leadership of this company protects the male dominated management roles.

I wish we had more women in leadership roles that I could look up to as a mentor. My manager, who is a male, doesn’t support me and I am often felt as if I am on an island. To those who have a good manager, you are lucky.

Wait, wait, wait - wasn't RTO supposed to solve that? We were going to transform into obedient little effeciency drones as soon as we were on company property. Or so some claimed.

Where are all the bootlickers at now? "Hurr durr no more costco runs, no more lawn mowing, snowflakes." Naught but a faint echo these days.
