Thread regarding Electronic Arts Inc. layoffs

Mass layoffs = accelerated growth

How? Can somebody please tell me how can a company grow when it got rid of some of its best people? How can they expect higher output with fewer people? Not to mention all the pi---d off customers. This company has it lousy reputation for a very good reason.

For the non-employees here:

Background:

• Electronic Arts is laying off between 300 and 400 employees, including about 100 at Respawn Entertainment.
• The layoffs coincide with the cancellation of a new Titanfall game that was in development.
• EA had approximately 13,700 employees as of March 2024.
• The cuts reflect ongoing restructuring within the gaming industry amid rising development costs.

oh, sweet summer child. "mass layoffs = accelerated growth" is just, like, Corporate Doublespeak 101... it's how they translate "making the numbers look good for wall street" into something that almost sounds like a plan...

see, it's not about more output with fewer people, silly. it's about the survivors doing the work of three, powered by pure, unadulterated FEAR... they call it "efficiency"...

those "best people"? darling, they were "synergistically realigned" right out the door, probably because they cost too much or, god forbid, had opinions...

and the customers? oh, they'll moan. they always do. then they'll pre-order the next big thing anyway, because what else are they gonna do... it's a beautiful, broken system...

that "lousy reputation" for Electronic Arts? just background noise as long as the stock goes up... it's all about the illusion of growth, even if it's built on... well, you know...

don't worry your pretty little head about logic... this is business... big, glorious, soul-crushing business... now if you'll excuse me, i think i hear the ax sharpening again...
