Thread regarding Ricoh layoffs

Is this how things usually are?

I'm new to Ricoh. I started in January and I've already been through two rounds of layoffs. I know no company is immune, but honestly, this is ridiculous. I did my due diligence, and nowhere did I see anything about layoffs happening this frequently. Is this something new, or has this been going on for a while? Did I just get unlucky?

If you are under 60 what are you doing here it’s not a career just a job with no hope of advancing there’s nothing to advance to my advice let them train you hang around a year or two then run away

My advice to you is to get as much experience, as many certifications, and grow network as much as you can, then get out of there as soon as possible. There is no future at Ricoh as their core print market is in decline, and they have proved year-over-year they cannot operate as a profitable digital services company. The company only serves and protects it long tenured, ex-Ikon sales leaders who know how to play politics, and will supress anyone who brings new ideas and innovation to the table.

Ricoh is changing it's business model moving from direct service provider to a dealer based company. In past years they have been open, at least in some press releases, about this. As a corporation they are also planning for when the time when copier sales have fewer opportunities by migrating to other business sectors.

It has been happening so frequently, it's not event news anymore. Layoffs, which used to be very rare, started at Ricoh from annual, to bi-annual, quarterly... now it seems the're used monthly as a way to manage their P&L. It's very sad.
