Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Generous Package or Just Packaging?

Dell Technologies’ severance packages have varied over time and by region, but recent reports suggest that the company’s standard U.S. severance offering includes:
   •   Two months of base salary
   •   One additional week of pay for each full year of service, up to a maximum of 26 weeks
   •   Approximately 75% of the prorated annual bonus
   •   Two months of employer-paid COBRA health coverage, with the option to continue coverage at personal expense thereafter .

Some employees have also reported that Dell honors vesting of restricted stock units (RSUs) scheduled within 90 days of separation. However, there have been instances where long-term employees received no severance, particularly if their departure was classified as a resignation or due to policy violations, such as non-compliance with return-to-office mandates .

Remember that the Severance package is in return for signing away your rights to sue the company for wrongful termination and other things.

So if you feel you are wrongfully terminated or have other legal recourse, make sure to get a legal opinion from an attorney before signing.

my manager told me two months plus one week per year worked, but the payout listed in the severance paperwork looks to be ~16 weeks pay. i won't have more info until next week but maybe they quietly changed that.

The 'Two months of base salary' is actually to mitigate any WARN violations.
dell is doing this to protect themselves.

Dell does not spend a lot of money on their legal/HR team so they just auto award the 2months across the USA to help stem any legal actions from WARN act.
