Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

TS Layoffs

TS called 2 mandatory meetings on 5/7, one at 9am and one at 10am with different players within TS. Managers and their reports are all over the place with no rhyme or reason. The 10am is none other than hosted by Mr Harri (cut your a-s) Govind and the 9am is hosted by BNSFs CIO. Plan on cuts tomorrow at one if not both meetings. His plan of cutting contractors and making everyone coders is totally effing the TS world. BNSF won’t even resemble itself in a negative way in less than 2 years. What a sh-t show

It is amazing how many AVP's got laid off (0). BNSF tech still has way too many managers, directors, and general directors. At least they got rid of the horrible Topeka one.

These comments pertaining to the ones left over having to train contracted coders as their replacements sound super salty that they couldn’t cut it and ended up in the 9AM as a result. Neither one of you know what you’re talking about. Those who remain are clearly smart enough to know that you never show all of your cards.. stay salty! Enjoy retirement.

Yes those who were on the 10oclock call will be training the contracted coding replacements, and ultimately will be responsible for training for those replacements to step in a fill the positions of the remaining employees who were not layed off today. So in essence those remaining employees who were not let go today are on temporary status, with the responsibility of training the coding contractors brought in and will then be let go at a future time once’s BNSF determines the remaining veteran employees are no longer needed for the training purposes.

All I have to say is…

It feels good to be invited to the 10am. =]

All you scrubs on the 9am — deuces!

My contract ends on 5/9 along with two other members of my team, one of which has been here 10 years. My TS manager was just riff'd (herd but not confirmed 20 yrs seniority). This is my second manager in a row that they axed. My first had 14 years in. They have replaced all of us contractors with an Indian based MSP and having us train them on our way out the door. Among one of the worst IT cultures I've ever worked. The "director" whom my boss would report, had I still had one, always seems to be saved (Indian) however 3 of his managers, all of whom are not Indian were just canned. Oh and his boss as well, also not Indian. I don't have a problem with anyone's immigrant status. I do have a problem with Americans being replaced by foreign workers. BNSF does not.

Thats why BNSF keeps attorneys, judges, union leadership, and politicians on their payroll, so even if employees may have a leg to stand on, BNSF will have already nixed any opposition to their strategy before it gets far enough to make a difference, this is the railroad of the future, and the only ones who matter are managers or those making the decisions for planning. Everyone else is expendable or able to be replaced by a temporary contractor, while the legal battles play out in BNSF’s favor. If you don’t think so, it doesn’t matter, you’ll just be one of the ones who learns the hard way.

If you’re going to the 9am one, you’re going to collect your severance package and be let go. If you’re staying then you’ll be at the 10am one, but be ready for boot camp. If you have had it easy and cruising along, be ready for the ride.
