My directory (2x CCIE) told me this... Is this true?

Cisco CCIE’s are either incredibly smart or would not know how to troubleshoot if DNS or direct connectivity to a server is at fault.
OP's statement is an oversimplification, but has some truth to it.
If you're a CCIE but lack verbal & written communication skills, ability to influence, and/or can't peer with people at multiple levels of an org, you're fairly useless except for sticking you in a lab somewhere - which, not so ironically, is where the person would be most comfortable with since it's where they've been for a couple of years studying for the CCIE.
Multi-CCIE's are fascinating...simultaneously both impressive and alarming - like people with multiple university degrees. It's only useful in that very small academic niche.
The people that manage to acquire both technical & non-technical skills rise to the top rapidly.
You forgot plagiarism in both presentation and code.
Get some other industry certification instead of a junk ccie
Once you are targeted as possible LR victim, it does not matter if you have 10 CCIE certs or 0, if not CCIE they will find something else to blame on you to get you LR'ed.
why suddenly CCIE threads? is it due to upcoming LR?
