Thread regarding Texas Instruments Inc. layoffs

Equity over tenure/experience

I've been in IT Services at TI for more than 20 years. 'Now close to senior in age white male. Many of those 20 years I've worked in a low-level Mgr position. For many years I've asked to move up to middle mgmt and been told I was in the pipeline for various middle manager positions. In the last 5-6 years alone I've seen those positions open, and then close without any offers to me to fill them. They were either filled by a minority/diversity candidate, or phased out by rolling those positions in under another DEI middle manager candidate that is climbing the DEI ladder. It was an opportunity for them to grow so they can make it to the director level of mgmt. If I were wiser, I would have left several years ago because it's obvious I am not the "right" candidate to climb the ladder at TI.

And their culture is throwing your colleagues under the bus. Making small issues seem bigger than it should be. Copying your module managers and their skip level managers on emails when you need to scapegoat someone. Oh and not forget if you are at a FAB site - if you see someone breathe the wrong way you need to report them to safety and make sure you let the whole facility know and do a power point presentation on why they are such a failure and should have their badge deactivated

If you haven't been "tapped" within the first 18-36 months of you working here, then it's most likely not going to happen. Everyone should realize this!
