Unless I want to work at Walmart, this is basically my best option. Really, my only option. I can’t afford to move right now for personal reasons, so I’m stuck and I’m scared out of my mind that I’ll be laid off or that the whole place will shut down. And with the way our foot traffic has been, it’s not that far-fetched. I hate that it’s gotten to this point. I’ve been here seven years. I used to actually like my job, back when I wasn’t constantly worrying it might disappear overnight.

Try fast food. I know people disparage those jobs, but if it pays the rent... Where I work, the average is now $14/hour.
