Thread regarding Optum layoffs

How soon after messing up a task will you get a PIP?

For managers: What is the process to start a PIP?

I'm a new grad developer and I missed my deadline to deliver a task. It's been extended a few times and as you can imagine... my manager is probably not happy with me but she is doing a pretty good job remaining professional about it.

I'm assuming the worst and already started brushing up my interview skills/resume when the PIP comes.

Does it take a few weeks to get a PIP approved from HR before handing it to your direct reports? If so, how long?

How can you be such stupid….use AI, it can finish 90% of coding for you. As a new graduate but not knowing using chatgpy, you deserve to be fired soon.

Why don't you finish it instead of posting here? I've been a developer for 15 years. I've missed deadlines. I'll stay up late or work over the weekend.

Your manager should have you assigned to a lead developer on the team that can help with issues when you're stuck. If not, tell your mgr that you have some questions so that someone is assigned. This is a hard org to come into as a new to the workforce employee. I have senior employees on my team that do much worse than miss task deadlines. They're still around and if they've ever been on a PIP they've survived.

If they PIP everyone who missed a deadline there would be nobody left. Managers are too lazy to do any paperwork. Your problem is not missing a task it is getting offshored like every other developer
