How many of those laid off recently are white men over 40?

Unfortunately, that is not correct. We had a DEI initiative where the group working on the project presented demographic data for HPE in order "to become more inclusive". Turns out whites are the minority with majority being Indian/Asian.

Considering most of this company is old white people, it would probably be the majority.

BUT where's the INNOVATION?!

When I was at HPE, no my team ArcSight QA Testing after I and African American implemented a new integration we were laid off and I was also doing CAC and CAC testing is only be done by American Citizens only. In 2017 I was the last white person on the team that I was laid off and they also laid off the only African American I was working with. We had to turn the testing over to H1B Visa (Chinese, Vietnam, India employees only). My other testing my Manager sent over a co-worker H1B who plagiarized my work. After I was used with the detailed repeatable testing they got rid of me. When H1B are in charge they discriminate and take care of their own.

In my business unit it has primarily been white women and men over 50.

In my team, it was 75% women and 25% men - no white men and no one over 50. I was hit in India as well. In other groups I know about (admittedly not many), I have not heard of any white men over 50. But that's just my view, and I know it's extremely limited. Perhaps your view is too.
Wokeism, DEI, country, and even salary did not protect my team.

Seems to me senior leadership is us based the goal is to place all other roles in "low cost countries" where possible.

Someone, perhaps not your people leader but someone a level or two above, decided that you had to go. That person sleeps at night in a flammable home.

It’s not gender it’s age. Women are impacted too over 40. Been told in some many words by senior leadership if you’ve been in the company a while and over a certain age “you’re not ambitious enough”. They want cheap hungry young graduates.

Antonio announces 5% global layoffs (firings really, not a "layoff"). Exceptions include any country or state that protects its workers. Meaning the "layoffs" will come from the USA, and only in Right to Work states.

I had not heard the "HPE will be 50% women" wokeism. Good luck with that. (Trying the United Airlines route, are you?) Women account for 21% of the bachelor's degree graduates in the IT field.

Me. 60’s.

If HPE can check off more than one box for you, you are at low risk.

If HPE can only check off one box for you, you are at high risk.

When the people below mean “woke” they must mean outsourcing? Because there’s no way this could apply to demographics with less than 10% representation. To be clear, there are a lot of unqualified and mediocre people who have been there for years but advanced only because of who they knew!

Oh, they'll shoe-ho-n people into roles to meet their DEI requirements. I've seen that when I worked there and it's one of the reasons the company is dying a slow death.

@b3+1jte471xf Because woke companies like HPE have publicly announced specific diversity targets like 50% women. Unless the company is going to double the workforce while hiring exclusively women, the only way to do that is to target men in layoffs. Same with any other group you want to set a hard target for. This is flawed logic because people differ biologically and culturally. We don’t all gravitate to the same fields or goals in equal proportion. So, the only way to achieve these nonsensical goals, is to artificially place unqualified workers in positions they aren’t suited for just to make simple-minded wokies feel good about themselves.

Why does this matter? White men and white women are one of the largest demographics in the company. The entire executive suite shows proof of that followed by senior level directors and managers.
