Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Lots of new jobs posted yesterday

Looks like Cengage finally took out the rotten apples and are hiring new leadership. I’ve counted over 25 open and new roles posted yesterday. Let’s see if it fixes anything in this place.

Ah, the classic rage-post: five years of simmering resentment, now boiling over in a profanity-laced meltdown. Look, no one’s saying your experience wasn’t frustrating, restructuring su-ks, uncertainty su-ks. But maybe, just maybe, screaming into the void and wishing ruin on others isn’t the most productive use of your newfound free time. Take a breath, touch grass, and try aiming that energy toward something that doesn’t involve self-immolation

5 years with the piece of sh-t place. All I experienced was nerves over being let go, constantly restructuring. We. It hit me this time so the person saying usual susectt can fu-k themselves until their world was ruined by this company.

Does anyone else just see this as cyclical?

It’s like a chess player setting up a board to play, then blaming the chess pieces when his strategy is insufficient and he loses the game. Every few years there’s a call for accountability and it’s time to denounce the wooden chess pieces and switch to granite or marble or ivory or onyx. It’s a bait and switch to distract from the fact that there never was a coherent strategy. We haven’t had that since the Fernando days. The best this leadership team can offer is vague assertions about being the biggest content provider from elementary to graduate school, with no actionable plan to bring any of it about.

Middle management at Cengage is deeply flawed, but that is as much a reflection of the lack of leadership and articulation of vision at the top as it is a referendum on individual leaders in the middle management tier (some of whom are, I acknowledge, comedically uninformed and unmotivated).

Oh look, the usual chorus of ex-employees back again shoveling half-truths and rage-bait like it’s a full-time job. Everyone gets it, you're mad. But spinning conspiracy theories and dragging names through the mud won’t change anything. Maybe channel that energy into something productive… like updating your résumé.

Cengage has been guilty in the past of posting "ghost jobs" - Jobs that aren't real just to make them appear to be a company actively hiring. Not sure these are all real jobs.
