Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Open question

For the last 18 months I have been recruited by a leader at Juniper to make the jump. He had came to Juniper through acquisition (he started recruiting me before they were acquired) and I really respected him, as did others I interacted with who either worked for him, been a customer or had worked for him before he came to Juniper. As luck would have it over the weekend I decided it was time to take him up on his offer only to find out he is no longer with the company. When I called him this morning he encouraged me to continue down the path of looking at Juniper and to reach out to the new Enterprise VP. My question is this, I wanted to go to Juniper not just for the product (which does have some holes) but to work for a sales leader I could respect, so I am seeking feedback on Juniper sales leaders. Can current or former Juniper sellers weigh in on the current leadership? I have a great job now (work for one of Junipers largest competitors) and with the person I wanted to work for no longer there I am concerned this may not be the best decision.

I see on LinkedIn they are hiring. Based on the above my open question is they are hiring in sales because people are leaving or are they growing? Just want to know before apply.

Just an update from the person who originally posted this question. After speaking to one of the 'leaders' in the field there is no way I will be moving to Juniper. This is my opinion only but he came across as very arrogant and only talked about growth in their wireless business. While he was positive about the companies data center and campus products he didn't sound bullish about their growth. I am certain they are good company but just not a fit for me.

Sales management is weak and toothless. Finance and Sales Ops run the place. Don’t join

"work for one of Junipers largest competitors" - if you work for Cisco then I'd encourage the jump. Juniper offers better benefits at least and Cisco Sales is not just dying, its almost dead- too much toxic politics. no career path and anyone who was any good has left.

  • An ex-Juniper then ex-Cisco.
