Employee Opinion Survey

Not sure what the person below thinks (that I never saw as a manager). We do NOT know how each particular employee answers the survey questions unless they tell us directly during survey results discussion meetings. Any conspiracy suspicion is completely false in this regard.

To be clear, you can see how many people filled it out as a base number but not who did or didn’t. Yea managers get dinged for people not filling it out which is BS because they bill it as a voluntary survey as stated before.

I can confirm, you do not have access to who the employee was. However, if your manager knows you well and your write detailed comments it is possible to figure out who gave the free text responses.

All we get is a dashboard of metrics on the score categories. You can dive deeper into individual questions but it doesn’t show you the names of people.

Managers don’t even know who completed it. Only the system keeps track of that. Not sure if that can be accessed by higher ups.

I get survey results. I can't see who said what, but it does give me years of service.

Example:
Employee 1 (with the company 4 years) wrote: xyz

Employee 2 (with the company 1 year) wrote: abc

Think about it, it’s a voluntary survey to complete, but it’s one of your goals. That is because your mindless manager, gets dinged if you don’t fill it out. They know exactly who fills them out and who doesn’t, that’s why if you haven’t filled it out you keep getting emails to complete. Years ago they brought the surveys in-house and took them away from the third party vendors, they did that for a reason.

The administrator of the survey selects what parts of the submitting party's identifying info they want to collect. For example if I want anonymous results, once received, the data (Excel spreadsheet) will NOT contain any identifiable info. Any info typed in the free-form field will be captured in it's entirety and visible. If you're on a small team, tone has the potential to be picked up. Supes and managers of small teams may not be privy but responses are saved in their entirety. Keep in mind, there's a difference between anonymous & confidential surveys.

My manager set completing surveys as one of our "goals" in GPS for this year, the whole team is expected to complete them

It's true. They are anonymous. If you manage less than 5 people, you can not even access the summarized results. You have to have 5 or more employees to even see summarized results. The only way to get any indication of who someone might be is if they provide comments and are a little too forthcoming.

Best approach dont fill it out. Have not filled one out in years.
Other approach is fill it out and check out the average boxes and never ever fill out the freeform text. If your manager has half a brain they can tell who it is by writing style and who the chronic complainers are.
