The main goal of the layoffs is to clear the highest salaries off the books. That's it. Of course, this does not apply to the top few levels, which contained by far the highest number of overpaid blowhards. This only applies to regular employees who dared earn their pay by working here hard enough and long enough. Nobody cares about that. It's all about the numbers.

Also - your job is at risk if you work on a project or product that Krause has deemed unnecessary or obsolete. It doesn't matter how talented you are if Krause decides that a certain product line is going to be sold off/no longer updated.
With a zero cost model all positions are at risk if the same work can be offshored. Yes if you suck at your job you are at risk. But you are also at risk if someone can do it for less cost. Simple fact.
So if I'm a manager, with 10 guys reporting to me, and I have to cut 5, I cut the best 5?
If I'm a manager, my main goal is keeping my job. I can't keep my job if my best guys go and the lesser ones stay since the best guys on any team do the bulk of the work, and the large bulk of the best work.
Sorry folks, if you think you got cut because you were a top guy who your manager just didn't like, and he/she kept the losers instead, you're really delusional.
It's partly based on a 'popularity contest' model. Inept managers retain their favorites.
That would explain why skilled employees are fired, yet the non-performers survive.
Misleading. If you take the last round — HR and Marketing — there were a wide variety of salary levels from Sr Director all the way through Coordinators and contract employees.
This is correct.
The main goal is usually to eliminate departments or project teams, groups that are simply not needed anymore. The second goal is usually to basically fire people who aren't making numbers, are personnel nightmares, the office cranks, etc in a very polite manner. Salaries aren't usually at the top of the list of who to let go since in places like sales, the highest paid guys are the ones selling the most.
