Sorry you got laid off, truly, that su-ks. But let’s not pretend this is some grand betrayal of “The Ethos.” Layoffs are brutal, but they’re rarely personal, it’s business math, not a referendum on your worth. Acting like the soul of the company died because your role got cut might feel cathartic, but it's not exactly a balanced take. Plenty of good people are still there trying to do good work.

So, I was one of those folks that got laid-off this week.
Not entirely unexpected! I Cannot understand what the rationale was for my role to get cut as opposed to others in same role / job title. Who knows? the real "WHY" really amounts to a line item in a spreadsheet. They are just looking at the numbers and not the real people behind the cuts.
The Ethos is dead at Cengage.

Maybe you should take your own advice and "move on." You spend a huge amount of time on a site in which everyone annoys you. Don't be a hypocrite. You are also complaining all the time---complaining about people on a website you choose to visit. You should also "move on."
I used "named", because only " important" people are in boldtype. The fact that 13 of them were let go shows that the final number will be very high. We won't have that final number, until the departures page is updated in a week or so. So, try to be patient.
Another expert insider with half the facts and double the drama. Most of this is just recycled speculation dressed up as truth. Maybe sit this one out until you actually know what you’re talking about.
I was told flat out System Analysts and TPM roles no longer exist along with reductions to UX.
This seems like the this is a tech side reduction. Seems like the company is moving more toward a dedicated offshore model.
Even if this is just 20 or 30 roles, tech at Cengage has been a skeleton crew for at least a year now.
Definitely more than 13. I only saw the names of individuals in higher up roles such as director or manager. Some of my colleagues have been fired and there names weren't in the announcements. The best way to find out is through the SharePoint site after May 9.

Emails sent out earlier by MH and DP confirmed there were cuts today as part of the reorganization. Product and engineering were impacted. Not clear how many roles.
