Coal

Heard some rumors that the coal line will be operated by Genesee and Wyoming short line. Any truth to this?

They would have to adhear to all the class one rail policies and procedures running on BNSF track in the powder river basin. I dont see it happening. Theres alot of movement up there and the coal belt is about to bust out at the seams again with Trump in office and our huge addiction to cheap energy. Getting a short line to take over on an existing class one rail doesnt seem to make sense unless BNSF is gonna do the same thing which i doubt they will.

If you get a chance to work for G&W, go for it. May not pay as well but at least you will have a job and not have to deal with this uncertainty.

Former coworker who was incorrectly deemed unfit for duty has been w/ G&W for a few years now. He loves it, he lost a few bucks per hour but is treated much better.

The G&W is damn near in every state, it's an easy choice due to the fact they can operate more efficiently than UP. UPs a joke.

Anything is possible with the UP right now. The corporate smurf can lease out the tracks and collect the money for doing so, without using a single employee for the work that's now being done by them instead of us.

They’ve expanded into Northern Colorado into Wyoming already. Taking over what was UP. So if not all, at least a portion maybe. Curious how many short lines are just waiting for the call or have a date in place already.
