Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

It’s easy to spin optimism

But it’s apparently hard to understand that Intel potentially turning things around would mean nothing to those who lose their jobs in the process. And how can anyone be optimistic when we don’t even know who will be let go? It could be any of us. All of this is happening amidst prolonged uncertainty and after multiple rounds of layoffs. We’re exhausted, and for many of us the worst may still lie ahead.

It's too much stress to put on the employees tbh. I miss the days of layoffs being tight lipped until they happen vs having everything else disrupted by rumors

@a5... don't forget:

  • declining margins
  • revenue down by over 30% since 2021
  • 13 and 14th gen CPU issues
  • nothing new in the product pipeline
  • missed AI
  • I will leave a place holder for 18A. Even if it is delivered on time it is too little too late

Spinning optimism. It's the only thing Intel was really good at for the last 20 years.

Let's tally up the evidence that Intel is struggling to hit our goals:

  • Repeated rounds of layoffs
  • Management can't trust employees to work hard with fewer than 4 days of RTO
  • ELT talent loss
  • Small bonuses (based on hitting targets)
  • Loss of market share (Data Center in particular)
  • Failure to attract customers (IFS Whales in particular)
  • Depleted cash war chest
  • Canceled expansions (especially the Ohio Fab; yes, it's only "on hold" but it's canceled, everybody knows it)
  • Loss of Trust by the investor community

There's more, aren't there?
