Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel will win! Intel is winning!

There is a lot of negativity in here, and some of it is deserved. However, keep in mind that most of the negative things you are reading is fake news likely created by AMD people and the very bitter ACT layoff class. It has no basis of reality.

Lets take the good. 18A is amazing. This is universally reported by customers and internal releases as well. The roadmap is solid out to 14A. If foundry doesn't get off the ground, at least Intel now has tech to compete with TSMC. Look at the news cycle. TSMC is scared of Intel and only Intel. Samsung is a threat, but they have never had the historic execution of Intel. They know if Intel executes, as they have a much longer track record of doing than failing, TSMC will be in the fight of it's life. That may sound comical since 18A is not yet released, but right now it sounds really great.

When Intel has a superior node, it's products historically have always been far superior. Sure TSMC will never go away now. They will continue to make products for Intel's competitors (and Intel themselves), but there will be parity or at least give and take advantages of each foundry.

Intel is pioneering High NA EUV. This tech is bleeding edge. TSMC cannot match it and they cheaped out not wanting to spend the money. In a few short years this will go down as a tragic flaw in their planning.

Finally, the big loss that people tout from last year was really just overspending on R&D. Bean counters wouldn't understand the need to bleed money to catch back up again and plan for cutting edge tech, but Pat did see this as necessary. All the rich BK years, milking the 14nm node while ignoring the future had a come-uppance.

Yes there will be layoffs, and yes Intel is making a tragic error in RTO. These are accounting errors and what bean counters feel they must do. Those that make it will have a chance at greatness. LBT is a technologist and a bit of a investing savant. Lets give him a chance! We shouldn't care that he is next door neighbors and good friends with the competition.

Remember, most of the negative posts here are from non-Intel employees trying to drain morale. Don't let them.

These are the rosy words that the CEO was told and made incorrect decisions.

If you keep on thinking Intel is doing great at this current pace, then you are fooling yourself.

Intel had a superior node with lunar lake on N3B (better than AMD N4)

How’s that working out?

Hint - look at CCG revenue vs AMD client revenues.

OP thinks 18A is better than N2.
lol interesting!

Oh and by the way AMD is using N2 concurrent with Intel 18A.

Let’s see how that plays out lol!

If you think sub one day QBP is winning I’d hate to see your idea of Intel losing

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. I can draw a picture of a 18A or a 14A chip with a crayon and sell it to an audience. That don't mean I can build it and fabricate it at a usable yield rate.

I think OP is an Intel id--t trying to refuse the facts that Intel is failing and lay off 35K employees. Down with the Intel liars. Lay him off !

We will NEVER recoup the R&D costs for 18A. Not to the end of time. From that standpoint it doesn’t matter how “good” it is.

If things were as rosy as you say we would not have needed to fire Pat.

That's a lot of words to try and justify a CEO who would rather see China win.

Wow. We really think highly of ourselves today. The negative posts on here are mostly Satire. It's a coping mechanism in a sh---y situation. Just think of every comment as a scene from MASH or South park and you'll see things in a much less hostile way.
P.S. Nobody's out to get you.

@a4 I don't disagree with OP, he just seems a bit wound up.

Coffee or donuts, but try not to do both at the same time.

A lot of the trolling on this site is really just those itching for a lower stock price.

They think trolling to a bunch of fab techs is gonna move the stonk, thus they are stupid.

Your point is well taken. Negativity only brings everyone down, but the post about the "caffeine limit" gave me a chuckle. I hope the third quarter budget has a sizable budget line for coffee under RTO expenses!!!
