EMC had hundreds of patents regarding software and hardware.

meanwhile in Dell 2025.

you have to fill some patents, it does not have to work, be doable or even make sense... just try to figure out something which can be approved.

What was the reason for Dell buying EMC? Like what was their plan? They certainly dont seem to have made use of any of EMC's development pipelines.

They sold the jewl in the crown with VMware...

Was that it? Buy big storage company and break it up to sell?

the only things i can think of are creative excuses for letting people go: blabla modernization, blabla flattening the organization, blabla the stock market, blabla shares to employees ratio.

Seriously though, I honestly can't think of anything innovative that came out in recent years.
