Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Toxic environment

The toxic work environment under the leadership of the Senior Vice President of Optum/WellMed Florida, M "C" H, is one that continues to get brushed under the rug. We have watched leaders who have been in the region for several decades walk away. Is anyone asking why? The culture under current senior leadership has become fear-driven, dismissive, and demoralizing. Constructive feedback is unwelcome, collaboration has been replaced with toxicity and control, and morale is at an all-time low. The environment has shifted from one of shared purpose to one of survival. We all sit and talk about who is next on her chopping block. We need accountability, transparency, and a renewed commitment to the values that once made Optum/Wellmed a place we were proud to work.

And what has been done by leadership to investigate the accusations of MCH, absolutely nothing. This is the environment that they want us living in. Unfortunate but true.

Apparently, WellMed management doesn’t like these people either. Normally if you say anything bad about WellMed the posts are removed. They must think if it’s not out there as a comment, no one knows how bad Optum Care has become since we were over run by these WellMed folks. They should just rebrand it from Optum to WellMed, it’s coming.

Sad to see this written about a leader that backs her play when it comes to caring for those she leads. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside MCH for many years, and have experienced nothing but kindness, support and consideration. MCH deserves better than this thread!

RV is still a leader in our organization for the Orlando market and one of the most arrogant, narcissistic, and condescending leaders in this organization. He only cares about himself. This behavior was not only acceptable during our JSA days, but it was encouraged. NM drove her entire region to insanity, and there was a revolt. Doctors and leaders raised this issue to HR and leadership. Thankfully, she is no longer here but I pity the folks who have to work with her now.

Several of us have been asked by a very unhappy leaders to write negative comments about MCH. I have personally reported this individual to HR and provided their names. There are multiple text conversations encouraging clinic teammates to post negative messages, which is completely unacceptable. Thankfully, this matter will be investigated. MCH does not deserve what is currently taking place.

The OP is not wrong. No accountability by employee clinic leadership in Optum/Wellmed in Florida. This is true of MCH and also of MS.

The other initials listed in dome replies are of people who are no longer here. We that are here are still hoping for improvement but it looks bleak that leaders in Texas will do anything to MCH or MS and improve the environment.

Not only is this thread cruel but it’s untrue. For those of us that come from legacy JSA and had the misfortune of working under CH, TS, CP, NM, RV let me take you down memory lane. Our culture was toxic. Sarcasm and rudeness was our norm. Those leaders wouldn’t even interact with front line teammates - they were beneath them. Arrogance was our norm. MCH is personable, visits clinics and speaks to everyone. She is open to suggestions and genuinely cares for us. I’ve never had one negative interaction with her. She leads with compassion, integrity, and genuine care for her team.
Shame on you for creating this account. What goes around comes around

MCH Burner account??? Absolutely not just someone who’s had the privilege of working with her
It gives me peace of mind knowing that every comment here can be traced back to its author.
It’s incredibly unfair to target MCH, one of the most compassionate and dedicated leaders in this organization. She’s consistently available, genuinely listens, and leads with unwavering integrity.
It’s clear that whoever made the negative comment is trying to damage her reputation — but they will not succeed.
I’ve worked under many leaders, but none like her. She is a true example of what leadership should be.

This reads like a hit piece. MCH has never been unkind even when others - including execs - are cruel to her. Anyone that actually knows her knows this is untrue. She would be heartbroken if she saw this.

It hurts my heart to read this and the comments. I continue to work with MCH and have found this person nothing but compassionate, knowledgeable, informative and professional. The decisions made are sometimes being instructed from the parent company, not solely the decision of one person. I do feel that my concerns are heard and that collaboration is encouraged.

God forbid you work at Optum/WellMed and have any opinions or point out deficiencies in processes or systems. And please don't be bringing that JSA stuff that worked for years over here! And yes, let's let years of experience walk out the door and wonder why our clinics are falling apart. 🙄

I’ve heard this from so many people about MCH. Rude, aggressive, controlling. But senior leadership won’t do anything about it.

Looks like in order to get a stable job in American healthcare system you need to either work in a hospital … or another country.

Optum tech keeps shuffling incompetent favorite a$$ kissers around and half of the team shouldn’t be considered tech workers. I heard from a leader that there will be another cycle of RIFs in August with more jobs added from Ireland.

Nothing will change if the company’s priority remains it’s stock price.

It’s the same within OT. What can we do to fix it though? There has to be someone to contact regarding this?
