Couple of WellMed (Optum CDO) VPs and SVP committing fraud. Fire them, save other jobs. You know, people actually doing the work.
Over the past several years, Optum has allowed significant influence from WellMed in its care delivery operations. This has included the appointment of former WellMed leadership into key leadership roles within Optum Care. This practice presents a direct conflict of interest, particularly as it relates to the other care delivery organizations operating under the same umbrella.
Since these leadership changes, there has been a noticeable and dramatic decline in the quality of care provided. Numerous staff members and stakeholders have observed and reported this trend. Despite these concerns, Optum leadership appears either unaware of or indifferent to the negative impact these changes have had on patient care and organizational morale. Perhaps after the horrible performance of WellMed for this year’s HEDIS chart-chase, leadership will come to their senses about allowing WellMed to continue to influence Optum Care.
It is imperative that Optum leadership recognize the consequences of these conflicts of interest and take immediate action to restore the integrity and quality of care across all care delivery organizations.
