Worst Leadership

Am I the only one in Melville experiencing the worst leadership ever?! Things seem to have gone from bad to worse in the last 18 months since our new CEO came onboard and completely changed the reporting structure, the company communication, the awful policies, and the unqualified expats handed leadership positions over way more qualified Americans.

My current “boss” is an American Sr Director who has absolutely no power other than pretending he does. He does not communicate one bit with us and kisses the expats as--s every chance he gets. That process has failed miserably.

I absolutely hate coming to work now. Every single minute of every single day is miserable. Miserable!! The clock moves so slow. The office is quieter than a library. Before everyone was scared of getting laid off. Now I honestly don’t think people care if they get laid off with a severance package.

This company is failing. Everyone knows it. Every single person.

The final straw for me was the “come in to the office an extra day when a holiday falls on an office day” policy.

As others have stated on this board, this was completely petty and unnecessary. Of the ten regular holidays, four are always on a Monday (MLK, President’s, Memorial & Labor). Thanksgiving & Black Friday are WFH days. So let’s say two of the other four are office days, that would be 6 days total lost office time over a year. You’re telling me it’s that big of a friggin’ deal that we have to be in office for those 6 days? It’s going to make that BIG OF AN IMPACT?

No, the CEO just wants to be a bully. The guy is so out of touch with American business culture and employee relations.

You're crying about Melville; you are lucky you're not in BOCA. My boss who is a manager wants meetings every day. He won't support us in any way, always letting the demo and service people push as around. Life is miserable working in BOCA, directors that don't even live in the area are constantly dictating and arguing about their own internal politics. Managers can't be found and when you do they cry they are too busy and disappear after 5. The infighting is just wrong; management lets the color advisors' cr-p all over their collogues on team's call and even customer calls. After the merger, we now have more people added to the mix, increasing the distain for management. Our VP just retired and the mess he left was just crazy!! Funny how his alleged retirement only lasted a couple weeks as he is now a president of another company. Must be nice with a golden parachute from Canon. What a mess.

Since Kobayashi likes to read these posts, I have a message for him:

You talk about innovation all the time. How about we try something innovative shall we?

Resign from Canon, and let Canon USA hire an American CEO for a change! Now that would be so innovative! It may even win an award for thinking outside the box!

The unqualified expats handed leadership positions over way more qualified Americans was and continues to be extremely demotivating. I’ve quiet quit as a result and some expats are wondering why things have gone downhill. You got the promotion, now do the work. How in the world are there still “Japanese only” positions in 2025 America. I’m out.

Plus most of us are overworked with no end in sight. We're all stressed and upper management does not care at all. Excellent job Sammy! Took a well oiled machine and you're running it to the ground.

I agree with every single word in this post. Spot on. Sad! But spot on. Everyday the energy and employee engagement at the office seems to get worse.
